Meet the Maker
HoukWalker Originals was started by David Walker and Angela Houk Walker. They both have creative original ideas! David because using his lathe to create pens, bottle stoppers, bowls. David was taught to be a wood turner by his grandfather. Angela loves to paint, use a kiln for glass fusing and many other crafts.
We had several request to personalize our items. So after some research, we purchased a laser engraver.
Auntie M Crafty Classes was started in 2025 has an offshoot to our original business. After using the laser to create DIY sign kit, Angela decided to start teaching all types of crafts. It's basically all Angela!!
How it’s Made
This one-of-a-kind DJ Cat sign is handcrafted with care and precision with my laser engraver. Each piece begins as a digital design, carefully layered to create a bold 3D effect. Using a high-quality laser cutter, multiple layers of birch or MDF wood are cut to form the intricate shapes—from the cat’s wild fur to its oversized headphones and turntable setup.
Once cut, each layer is individually hand-painted with vibrant acrylic paints in electric hues like neon pink, yellow, blue, and black. The painted layers are then stacked and glued with precision to bring the design to life, giving the piece dynamic depth and dimension. The final frame is added for a polished, ready-to-hang finish.
Every sign is unique—no two are exactly the same—making it a true conversation starter and a standout piece of wall art.
